Welcome to Las Cruces

Well the move is final and the setting up begins in Las Cruces, NM.  We have been enjoying the much warmer weather, at least 10 degrees, in Las Cruces.  Our house is located on the 18th tee of the Picachio Hills Country Club.  We have a great view of the Organ Mountains and get the sunrise over the mountains.  We haven't explored any yet but we certainly notice the warmer temperatures from Silver City.  After 3 trips to Silver City we have all our stuff in Las Cruces.  Now house hunting begins.  Some photos to enjoy.

Gila Wilderness Elk Hunt and Swinging Cross Canyon

The scenery on the drive to work.  Glenwood NM has some of the most spectacular rugged country around.  The ranch is just past Glenwood on the San Francisco river.

Handsome.  One big footed horse who could and would climb anything.

9 x 8 Elk head harvested by our hunter.  We outfitted the trip 9 miles into the wilderness area.   The head scored 390 in the field.

Head of Swinging Cross Canyon.   The rock formations which were obviously lava flows were amazing.  It was a rock city.

Glenwood Cemetary

All of the buried in this cemetery were murdered either in bar fights in Mogollion or by the Apaches.  In one grave there are 6 Buffalo Soldiers buried together from a battle with the Apaches.
