We found the beach along the Green River about 20 miles outside of town. Awesome. We crashed a Bureau of Land Management camping area (hung out at a picnic table in the "fee area" with the idea we'd stay a bit till somebody kicked us out and nobody did).
We had a picnic lunch at Nefertiti and soaked up the views and wonderful sunshine. We saw deer, geese, horses, ants and lizards. Lots of critters, like Georgia. The small beach was to the left of where we picnicked and there were a few children swimming, people camping and rafting the rapids. Can you believe Don did not bring his portable fishing pole?! But then he reminded me he doesn't have the licensing to fish here. Lucky fish.
Here we are at Gray Canyon entrance.
We saw a few rafts on the Green River. They had to traverse rapids in the lower left. Probably Class 2 level rapids at this spot, I'd estimate (some expert Pam goes once in Class 2/3 and called it an experience).
The rental car has been handling well, though we noticed a very small, less than 3/4 inch, chip in windshield yesterday. Don has been doing all the driving, which frees me up to spectate.
Our incredible picnic spot at Nefertiti.
Another fantastic day. Tomorrow to Moab!
