First outing with the Rolling Stones.

Pam and I went to the local rockhounding club meeting last Thursday.  We met a lot of rock hunting folks.  The first field trip was last Saturday.  20 car loads of people.  The Continental Divide is about 5 miles from our house.

The first stop was an old Spanish gold mine ran from 1760 - 1860.  It was on top of the mountain.  Right up the road was a spot we collected apricot quartz.  Large chunks for rock gardens.   It was a bit chilly in the morning.

Second spot we collected agate.  Rose chalendrey and fire agate.  Fire agate is considered a precious gemstone as it is formed in the same manner as a pearl except geologically.  Both can be tumbled and I have my feelers out for a rock tumbler.  Round Mountain is in Arizona.  About 45 miles from our house.

Purple Agate.                                                             About 200 pounds of goodies.
