Gila Cliff Dwellings National Park outing

Finally after 2 weeks in our new home we are able to break away and have an outing.  After waiting out a brief snow shower/flurries, we departed to the Gila Cliff Dwellings with our picnic basket.  The Gila Cliff Dwelling National Park was one of the first national parks established by Teddy Roosevelt.  It was only 44 miles from our house but it took over 2 hours to drive there.  Fantastic drive, first through the Pinos Altos mountains, which we can see from our house, then into  the Gila National Forest Wilderness area.  Most of the drive was at about 20 mph twisting back and forth up and down mountains.
